Data Engineer (Marketing & Analytics) (m/f/d) - Job Berlin - Karriere bei der Heilpflanzenwohl

Data Engineer (Marketing & Analytics) (m/f/d)

About us

Build the data foundation of an entire company — not just pipelines.

We are looking for our first Data Engineer to turn one of our most valuable untapped assets into real business impact: proprietary, full-funnel first-party data across 15+ e-commerce platforms.

This is not just another data engineering role. It’s a unique opportunity to design, own, and scale the central data infrastructure of one of Europe’s fastest-growing OTC companies — from day one.

HeilpflanzenWohl Group is a fast-growing Swiss-based company specializing in the development and distribution of innovative, plant-based pharmaceuticals and natural dietary supplements. With our headquarters in Switzerland and a key operational hub in Berlin, we have rapidly established ourselves as one of the leading OTC companies in Germany and across Europe within just eight years.

Our mission is clear: to sustainably improve people’s health and quality of life through effective, science-driven herbal solutions.

Our innovation and impact have been recognized with multiple awards, including “OTC Pharma Company of the Year” (Germany, 2019) and “Most Innovative Consumer Healthcare Business in Central Europe” (2020, GHP).

Driven by strong growth, we are now building the data backbone of the entire company.

Why this role stands out

  • Founding role: You are the first dedicated Data Engineer
  • Real ownership: You design the architecture — not just implement it
  • Greenfield setup: No legacy systems, no technical debt
  • Direct CTO collaboration: Fast decisions, no hierarchy layers
  • High-impact data: Proprietary raw tracking data most companies don’t have
  • Long-term scope: From marketing data to finance, product, and operations

What you will build

We already collect granular first-party event data across 15+ websites — sessions, clicks, product views, add-to-carts, conversions, and revenue.

Now, we need you to turn this into a scalable, decision-driving data platform.

Your responsibilities

Data Modeling & Architecture

  • Transform raw tracking data into scalable, structured data models in BigQuery
  • Design a unified data model across multiple domains and sources

Data Integration

  • Connect on-site event data with paid media platforms (Google Ads, Meta, Taboola, Outbrain)
  • Integrate additional data sources: APIs, offline transactions, financial data

Pipelines & Infrastructure

  • Build robust, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Develop and maintain GCP infrastructure (BigQuery, GCS, Cloud Run, VMs)
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and observability

Business Impact & Enablement

  • Build attribution models and performance logic reflecting real user behavior
  • Create semantic data layers for non-technical teams using AI-assisted querying
  • Develop dashboards (Looker or custom) for marketing, product, and finance

What we are looking for

  • 2–5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field
  • You think in data models, not just pipelines
  • You instinctively question data — and don’t trust numbers until they make sense
  • Experience integrating and normalizing data from multiple heterogeneous sources
  • Strong Python skills for data processing and transformation
  • Experience with BigQuery / GCP or strong willingness to work with it
  • Solid understanding of marketing KPIs (CPC, CPA, ROAS, CTR, conversion rates)
  • Ability to communicate complex data topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Experience with advertising platform APIs
  • Familiarity with Looker or similar BI tools
  • Experience building data layers for AI/LLM-based querying
  • Exposure to financial or product data models
  • Experience in fast-moving, low-hierarchy environments

What you can expect

  • High ownership from day one — your work directly shapes the company
  • Direct collaboration with the CTO — no unnecessary hierarchy
  • Fast, ambitious environment — we move quickly and focus on outcomes
  • Flexible hybrid setup — remote-friendly with optional office time
  • Employee discounts on our product portfolio

We are not a corporate environment with endless processes — we are a fast, ambitious team that values ownership, speed, and execution.
